Learn more about ADT security monitoring for your home or rental.
1. Can I have a home security system while renting?
Yes! While home security monitoring tends to only be associated with homeownership, wireless systems monitored with ADT are available to customers who currently rent. Be sure to speak to the managing party of your rental property about any policies that might be in place.
2. When the ADT monitored system is installed, will it be visible?
It depends on what kind of system you choose for installation. Most systems contain cellular technology, which means your system will be wireless. Wireless security systems are discreet and easy to install, while wired systems might be more obviously in sight.
3. Am I able to manage security settings when I’m not at home?
If you go with a plan that features ADT Pulse®, you’ll be able to do everything from arm/disarm your security system to receiving live updates all on a mobile device such as a tablet or smartphone. The keychain remote that is available with all plans allows you to arm and disarm your home from outside of your house or apartment/townhouse complex from a limited distance.
4. Does ADT monitor risks that aren’t crime-related such as weather?
While ADT is primarily known for monitoring against burglaries, customers can also get monitoring for risks such as fire, flooding, and dangerous gases such as carbon monoxide. If a hazard is detected, an alarm will be sent to both the home, as well as to your local fire and police departments for immediate response.
5. If my power goes out, will my ADT-monitored system still run?
In the event that your power goes out, your ADT monitored security system will be backed up by a 24-hour battery to keep all systems running.
6. Do I need to keep the ADT yard sign or stickers visible in my home?
If you would prefer not to have the signature ADT yard sign or stickers, you can choose not to set them up. But keep in mind, the yard sign has been proven as an effective deterrent against would-be burglars, with many stating that they would not enter a home once they knew a security system was up and running.
1. Are there any financial advantages of having an ADT monitored home security system installed?
Apart from the unbeatable special offers, there also may be long-term fiscal advantages such as saving on your renter’s insurance. Also, having ADT monitored security system can cost as little as one dollar per day.
2. How does billing with Advanced Direct Security work?
As a customer, your billing will work like most other home services you’ve had experience with. All home security monitoring plans through Advanced Direct Security are paid on a monthly basis.
1. If I don’t have a landline, can I still be considered for ADT monitoring?
Yes! ADT-monitored systems are available thorough cellular-based wireless technology. You can experience all of the benefits of ADT monitoring without the need of a landline. In fact, wireless systems are easier to install, and are also more discreet in appearance.
2. If a break-in attempt occurs in my home, what should I do?
If you are home, try going to a safe location. One of the ADT monitoring centers will receive notification of a break-in at your home, and will immediately contact you to see if you need any third-party assistance. If so, an ADT representative will notify your local fire or police department to request a dispatch to your location. Customers who are looking for extra comfort might want to consider a plan that contains the ADT Pulse feature.
1. What happens to my ADT monitoring service when I move from my current location?
Residents who are moving from their current location to a new one can be considered for the Mover’s Package Guarantee (certain restrictions apply). If you have been an ADT monitoring customer for at least two years and are in good standing, you’ll be considered for a mover’s offer. Please call to learn more.
2. What is the timeframe between ordering and installation?
When you choose your ADT monitored package, you will receive communication within 24-hours from the time that you order and next day installation is available in some locations.
3. Should I be testing my security system? Or will ADT do this for me?
Customers are responsible for testing the overall functionality of their ADT monitored security system. You should be provided with a manual on how to conduct this testing. If you aren’t sure how to conduct testing, please call at any time.
